北京师范大学全球变化与地球系统科学研究院成立于2008年12月，研究院的使命是结合当今地球科学发展突出学科交叉和注意综合研究的特点，以地球系统模式及关键科学问题研究为基础，全球变化综合观测数据平台为支撑，人类活动与全球变化的相互影响机制为纽带，全球变化经济学为重点突破方向，结合我国国民经济和社会的发展对地球科学提出的要求，增强全球及区域性气候与环境变化的预测能力，有效地以国民经济服务为目标，开展全球变化与地球系统科学的集成研究，建设成为具有国际水准的科学研究中心和创新人才培养基地。
根据研究院的发展需要，现向国内外公开招聘全球变化研究领域的首席科学家，招聘公告如下：

(一) 岗位职责：
1、科研职责：组建并带领一支由研究人员、博士后和研究生组成的研究团队，以独立或合作的方式进行尖端领域的研究，补充和发展本中心在综合地球系统观测、地球系统模式等全球变化研究领域的科研实力。
2、教学职责：承担至少一门的本科生课程，或结合中心需求和个人兴趣对相关领域的研究生课程进行改革创新。

(二) 任职条件：
申请者需具有全球变化研究或相关领域的博士学位，正高及以上职称或等同于美国或加拿大的大学教授级别。优先考虑的研究领域有：气候动力学、海洋物理学及海洋模式、模式耦合器、地球系统模式的高性能计算。

(三) 聘用方式与薪酬待遇
工作性质为全职，聘期一年（可续聘），工资水平将以经验和资质为基准（年薪30万-80万人民币）。工作起始时间将由双方共同协商，名额有限，招满为止。

(四) 招聘方式：

全球变化与地球系统科学研究院

College of Global Change and Earth System Science, Beijing Normal University was founded in December, 2008. The mission of the college is to consider the characteristics of current earth science development highlighting multidisciplinary integration and comprehensive research, with the earth system model and the key scientific issues research as basis, global change integrated observation data platform as support, interaction mechanism of human activities and global change as bond and the global change economics as the key breakthrough direction, in line with the requirements of China’s national economic and social development on earth science, to strengthen ability in forecasting global and regional climate and environmental change, with national economy service as the goal, effectively carry out integrated research on global change and earth system science and build into a world-class scientific research center and innovation talents cultivation base.
GCESS invites applications for principal investigator positions in global change studies at the Full Professor level (in reference to major research universities in the US or Canada). The appointments will be full-time positions for one year with an annual salary (between 300,000 to 800,000 RMB) commensurate with experience and qualifications. The positions will be available starting as soon as can be mutually agreed and will remain open until filled.

Applicants should have expertise in global change research or related fields. The prioritized research fields include physical oceanography and modelling, model coupler, and high-performance computation for earth system modeling. Successful candidates will establish and direct a team of researchers, postdocs and graduate students to conduct cutting-edge research both independently and collaboratively that complements existing strengths in integrated earth system observation and modeling, and global change studies in the Center.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a field appropriate for the research area. Teaching responsibilities will include an undergraduate lecture-laboratory course or the development of a graduate course in an area consistent with the individual’s area of interest and Center needs.

Interested candidates should apply by submitting a cover letter stating research and teaching interests, and providing the following: (1) CV; (2) list of publications; (3) 3-5 representative research papers; (4) copies of certificates for patents, current position held, and highest degree; (5) 3 letters of recommendation in English; and (6) a passport-type photo. Review of the first group of applicants will begin on October 8-9, 2015.  
Nominations should include an introduction to the candidate’s scientific research achievements and particularly his/her successful administration experience.
