Title:冰与气候变化 Ice and climate The polar regions are key elements of the Earth‘s climate system. Ice cores provide a great record of climate variability from the few hundred years to the last million. The huge polar ice sheets today are responding to the rapid changes caused by human activities. We project sea level rise to be 1-2 m by 2100, and 76 million Chinese will be directly affected, globally more than 250 million people will need relocating. In this talk I show how we work and live on the glaciers, and how we collect our data and how we use advanced methods of statistical analysis to understand mechanisms of climate behaviour.
