John Moore，英国籍，教授，博士生导师，极地气候与环境实验室主任。1989~1990年日本北海道大学担任研究员，1990~1993年在英国南极调查局任古 气候学者，1993~2007年芬兰拉普兰大学任资深研究员，2007~2009年同时在芬兰拉普兰大学及奥卢大学任教授，2009年被北京师范大学全球 变化与地球系统科学研究院聘为首席科学家。长期从事气候系统、冰河学、气候变化时间序列分析、冰核古气候研究、雷达冰河学等方面研究。曾担任国际北极科学 委员会冰川组的芬兰代表，国际极地年计划“Kinnvika”的科学协调员，负责涉及来自11个国家的60位领先研究员负责的20个科研项目的科学协调工 作。规划11个北极（4个在格陵兰，7个在斯瓦尔巴特群岛Svalbard）和6个南极的基地研究工作，并组织欧盟在冰川方面的实用培训课程，共11门课 程，每门课持续8天，约250名博士生参与。发表SCI论文89篇.
