He is working with mathematical modelling of sea level rise, extreme events, paleo-climate and ice sheet-climate interaction.

Abstract:Predicting how tropical cyclone activity will change in a warmer world has proven to be an elusive target. Detection and attribution of past
changes in cyclone activity is hampered by biased cyclone records due to changes in observational capabilities. Here we construct an
independent and unbiased record of Atlantic tropical cyclone activity based on storm surge statistics from tide gauges, which we relate to
changes in global average temperature. We provide observational evidence that with 2°C warming we would expect a ~7 fold increase in
the frequency of events of Katrina magnitude.
